Atletico Madrid remain atop the La Liga standings following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao, extending their unbeaten run to seven games.
Correa's Decisive Strike
The only goal of the match came in the 73rd minute courtesy of forward Angel Correa. His well-placed shot from inside the box found the bottom corner, securing the three points for Atletico.
Dominant Display
Atletico controlled possession and created numerous chances throughout the match while limiting Athletic's attacking threat. Diego Simeone's side had 63% possession and nine shots on goal compared to Athletic's two.
League Standings
With this victory, Atletico moved to the top of the La Liga table, level on points with Barcelona but ahead on goal difference. Athletic remain in seventh place.
Credit to Bilbao
Despite the defeat, Athletic put up a valiant effort, particularly in the second half. They forced Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak into several saves and nearly equalized late on through Iñaki Williams.
