Cubs overcome early deficit, win in extras

The Chicago Cubs rallied from a five-run deficit to defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates 14-10 on Tuesday night at Wrigley Field.

Christian Bethancourt drove in seven runs for the Cubs, including a go-ahead two-run single in the 10th inning.

The Pirates took an early 5-0 lead, but the Cubs chipped away at the deficit and tied the game in the eighth inning on a two-run home run by Patrick Wisdom.

The Cubs took the lead for good in the 10th inning on Bethancourt's single, which scored Nico Hoerner and Ian Happ.

The Cubs' bullpen was solid in relief, with Keegan Thompson earning the win and Brandon Hughes picking up the save.

Bethancourt's big night

Bethancourt had a career night, going 3-for-5 with a double, two singles, and seven RBIs.

He is now batting .300 with 10 RBIs in 21 games since joining the Cubs.

Bethancourt's performance helped the Cubs improve to 55-67 on the season.
